Are you a Glasgow cyclist? Or would you like to get out on the bike more? If so we want you to get involved

The Future City demonstrator is looking at active travel in Glasgow - walking and cycling. Active travel can deliver substantial health benefits as well as helping tackling some of our environmental issues such as emissions and congestion. However for us to really drive change in the city, we need better data and a better understanding of how the city moves on 2 wheels. And the real knowledge lies with the people who cycle in the city

By using the power of the iPhone in your pocket we can help empower the cycling population of Glasgow. By giving visibility of route’s, the times types of journeys being undertaken by the citizens of Glasgow, together we can build a true picture of our cycling needs and allow the city to deliver a better cycling experience to citizens and visitors.

Key Features:

• The Glasgow cycle map will help you find cycle racks and repair shops with more data points being added over time from the Open Glasgow data platform.
• Track your route. These routes are trimmed (start and end points are ‘fuzzy’) and added anonymously to the open api.
• Discover nearby routes. View routes recorded by others.
• Search routes and use local knowledge. View a route made by someone else from your current location to another part of the city.
• Keep an eye on your activity. See how far you’ve cycled and how many times using the profile statistics.
• The app will also give you a weather forecast so hopefully you don’t get caught out by our cities predictably unpredictable weather.

Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
